Offering Daily Inspiration To Help You Find Spiritual Growth
I am Anupriya Wijayaweera, and I invite you to witness the wondrous transformation that spirituality has brought to my life. Join me as I share the day-to-day chronicles of my spiritual experiences. Through this platform, I aim to inspire and guide others on their own spiritual journeys, as we embark on a path of self-discovery and enlightenment together.
I started out as a plain vanilla Theravada Buddhist but Iam so much more nowadays. This is because I met Sathya Sai Baba, and my outlook expanded to cover all humanity.
Sathya Sai Baba was the greatest religious and spiritual leader of the 20th century. He is less famous than the Dalai Lama but far more powerful. He was a miracle worker who healed the sick and has resurrected more people than Jesus Christ.
After getting deep into Sathya Sai Baba's philosophy and teachings, I came to the conclusion that this universe was created by a creator God , since it is so complex that random variation and events cannot have given birth to something so complex and fantastic.
However I also came to the conclusion that the creator cannot have been a "jealous" God like the creator God in the Abrahamic religions who supposedly favours only people from his own religion. The creator is someone more like the more benevolent creator such as Brahma found in Hinduism who looks after all creation without bias or favour.
However, my spiritual guide and guru Sathya Sai Baba, says that everyone is in fact worshipping the same omnipresent, omniscient and omnipresent God in their own specific method. So this means the same benevolent God, rather like Brahma is cut down to size in each Religion's holy book as a God that only makes sure that those of that religion only, will be taken care of after they die.
It makes logical sense to envisage an expansive God who looks after everybody after they die, provided they have stuck to certain rules and moral codes laid down in their holy books, rather than Jehovah looking after the Christians only and Allah looking after the Muslims only and so on. It makes no sense to believe as many Christians do, that those who do not believe in Christ will go to hell, or as Muslims do that those who do not believe in Allah will go to hell after they die. If all those who do not believe in Christ will go to hell after they die, then why did God not create all human beings in Christian families only, and make everyone else barren? The same logic applies to the Muslims and also to everyone else that believe that only those that believe in the local God will not go to hell after they die.
WHAT SHOULD THOSE IN ABRAHAMIC AND SIMILAR RELIGIONS DO?
Keep on believing your basic beliefs but be more discerning. Keep in mind the one God is a more expansive God than that outlined in your Holy books. Your Holy books are a mixture of divine inspiration and human ingenuity. All your Holy books contain basic human values, such as Thou shall not kill and also the calls to morality, which are divinely inspired. However, reject those commands that stray from basic human values such as Thou shall not kill, such as calls for Jihad, and calls for animal sacrifice.
By the way, wherever there is vegetarian food available it is a sin to consume animals for food. Animals are sentient beings who feel pain and suffer and as such should not end up in our stomachs. My beloved master, Sathya Sai Baba has said that eating non vegetarian food causes cancer. Apart from that there are also environmental reasons why we should be vegetarians.
My beloved spiritual guide and master, Sathya Sai Baba said that he has not come to foster a separate religion but to make a Hindu a better Hindu, a Christian a better Christian and a Muslim a better Muslim etc.
The way to become a better Muslim, Christian, Hindu etc is not by blindly following your Holy books by placing a literal interpretation on everyone of the commands but by being discerning in choosing which rules to apply and which commands to reject, knowing that the books have been written by humans and in ancient times such that some commands are outdated, however I acknowledge most of what has been written is divinely inspired.
